Flotation

A Flotation tank is a large soundproof/lightproof pod containing water with a high density of epsom salt and filtered water. The dense solution allows one to float on top of the solution effortlessly. The solution is heated to the approximate temperature as the outside of the skin, the sensation of the water and air on the skin is greatly reduces giving the impression that you are floating in nothingness. The solution is run through a UV sterilization and filtration system after each use to ensure the solution is sanitary. The solution is also maintained with non-toxic chemicals on top of the filtration and uv system. The goal of the float session is create and extremely relaxing environment where you are free from distractions enabling one to improve concentration skills and increase overall awareness and overall relaxation even when outside of the tank. Many athletes, writers and artists have experienced enormous benefits from flotation therapy. Float therapy shows immediate effect on pain relief, elimination of stress and supports improved sleep quality. The pressure of gravity is eliminated allowing the body to free up healing energy.

To maximize the benefits of your float there are a few additional things to consider:

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Try to avoid caffeine or other stimulants the whole day prior to floating and after floating, it may interfere with your ability to relax and can hinder your session.

Coming into your float session with a light to empty stomach is best for optimal results. If the body is trying to process food during your session it makes it more difficult for your system to slow down and relax.

Come with comfortable clothes!

Consider spending 10-15 minutes before your float preparing to relax, before it even begins.

Try not to shave right before arriving. You can still come in if you do but high concentrations of salt may burn during your session and make it difficult to relax.

Remove your contacts prior to floating.

A swimsuit is not required but you are more than welcome to bring one. (It may be a distraction while floating)

Shower shoes and towels will be provided.

How is the tank kept clean?

There is 1000 pounds of medical grade Epsom salt dissolved in the tank. Salinity is at 1.30 grams per cubic centimeter. The solution is so high in saline that no living microorganism can survive in there. After each session, the entire volume of the solution is pumped out and filtered through a three part filtration and sterilization system utilizing Ultra Violet light and H2O2. UV is the safest most effective system available. It maintains the water’s soft, clean and crystal clear appearance. In addition all clients are required to shower prior to entering the tank.
